               One way the author makes the article engaging is by including dialogue.  There was an interview that was conducted by an interviewer and Sergey Brin.  The interviewer asked, “Is your goal to have the entire word’s knowledge connected directly to our minds?”  Brin responded, “To get closer to that- as close as possible.”  Brin continues to talk about how he wants google to become an artificial intelligence.  Brin and Page both have the aspiration to use artificial intelligence to make us smarter.  The topic of artificial intelligence is engaging as it is but to go beyond that and have the goal to make the ultimate search engine is even more engaging.

               The sources used throughout are also engaging.  The article starts out by stating that the founders of google sat down with Playboy and the magazine published the transcript.  The article goes on to explain how Brian also discussed Google’s progress toward the ultimate goal in an interview with Newsletter writer Steven Levy.  I think the sources are engaging because it makes me want to know what was said and it also makes me wonder why these sources?

               I think the ultimate goal is engaging.  The founders of google want to make the ultimate search engine that would understand everything in the world.  That is bold.  How do they plan on doing this? Larry Page goes on to explain that a team of employees who are “really trying to build an artificial intelligence and to do it on a large scale.” 

               I think the angle of this article is introducing artificial intelligence to the audience.  The whole goal for Page and Brin is about incorporating artificial intelligence, so the angle is to explain what it is to the audience and then try to sell the idea to the audience.  Ultimately, the goal of the article is for everyone to be on board of the whole idea and support it.  Artificial intelligence is predicted to vastly exceed biological intelligence by the mid-2040’s resulting in a world where there would be no distinction between the mechanical and biological, or between physical and virtual reality.  Imagine what it would be like to live in a world like this because that is where we are heading.

               David Foster Wallace writes an article titled, “Consider the Lobster.”   The audience is chefs and people that love food or more specifically lobster.   The entire article is about lobster.   There is a lot to be said about lobster itself including its history, the different ways you can eat it, and the popularity of this omnivore.                The article starts out by describing the Maine Lobster Festival and explaining why it is such a huge event.   Wallace states, “Tourism and lobster are the midcoast region’s two main industries, and they’re both warm-weather enterprises, and the Maine Lobster Festival represents less an interaction of the industries than a delicate collision.”   This statement says a lot.   It explains the two biggest industries that are present in Maine, which leads me to ...
