Japanese Do Not Fear Robots

               The purpose of the article was to inform us as to why westerners fear robots compared to Japanese people that do not.   Japanese people have no fear of robots whatsoever and actually find excitement from the idea to utilize robots.   There are different factors like religion and history that come into play to help explain why there is such a big difference in the way that westerners and Japanese view robots.                The author points out the idea that westerners “concept of humanity is limited” and challenges the audience to question themselves whether we humans have the right to exploit robots just because we are human and robots are not. Harrasment of Women on the Internet

This article was very interesting and disturbing to read at the same time.   It was not pleasant to read the baffling statistics and personal experiences of Amanda Hess being harassed online, especially being a woman myself.   One statistic that really stuck out to me was “of 3,787 people who reported being harassed from the year 2000 to 2012, 72.5 percent were female.”   That is a significantly large number and it should not be that high in my opinion.   You have to ask yourself, why is the number so much higher for women compared to men? What really surprises me is that when multiple attempts were made to report incidents to the police, almost all of them dismissed the cases and considered them just another online ruse.   What is even worse is when attempts were made to bring the cases to larger law enforcement agencies and those agencies having little to no drive to investigate the threats further.   I can only imagine how frustrating that must b...

Considering your topic and issue

1.)     My subject is obesity. It is a major issue because it affects our society and it has copious amounts of risks associated with it. I will go into more detail about the risks in my paper and how the risks are discussed across different forms of media.   The forms of media that I will be focusing on are scientific journals, documentaries, and articles. 2.)     I have chosen this subject because I find it to be very relevant and concerning at the same time.   I have always seen it as a major issue and I have watched documentaries on Netflix about food industries and obesity.   I am majoring in health, nutrition, food, and exercise so I am very interested in the subject obesity, and the health risks that are associated with it.   There are many factors that play into obesity that I am also interested in.   I think it is very fitting for this assignment because we all had to choose a current issue that is discussed acros...
